→ Slam Jam C.P. Company is an ode to Mutonia

For the first time ever, Slam Jam and C.P. Company converge in a capsule built around radical heritage. Three exclusive pieces mark the drop: a leather Mille Miglia jacket, a goggle-hooded sweatshirt, and a balaclava.

These are signature items in the C.P. Company universe. Slam Jam went through its seasonal ranges and repurposed a limited number of pieces with its vision.

Slam Jam got inspired by the Mutoid Waste Company, the legendary collective that turns scrap into spectacle. Born in early ’80s West London before relocating to Santarcangelo di Romagna, the Mutoids built Mutonia: an independent village where recycling became ritual, and industrial debris gave birth to futuristic machines and sculptures. Rooted in the same post-apocalyptic imaginary that made authors like William Gibson or films like Mad Max iconic, the Mutoids’ practice is deep and urgent: they stand for civil resistance, alternative forms of communal living, and the continual reimagining of both territory and identity.

The project draws on their spirit of transformation too, and its visual cues come from the infamous shoot Daniela Facchinato did in 1993 for Arcipelago, C.P. Company’s magazine. Many unpublished images portray the Mutoids in their natural looks. One could say that to mythologize the story is to cast a memorable character. Facchinato captured their essence then, and those images now re-emerge as the backbone of this collaboration. One image in particular stood out and is printed on the inside of both the jacket and the hoodie.

Mutonia’s establishment in Santarcangelo traces back to the group’s invitation to the Santarcangelo Theatre Festival in the ’90s, after which they chose to make the town their home. Since then, Mutonia has become a hub for creativity, festival culture, and monumental sculpture, recognized by the city as a unique cultural asset. Recent years have brought new challenges, but the Mutoids’ legacy and energy remain firmly part of Romagna’s landscape.

To celebrate the launch, Slam Jam and C.P. Company will host a special event on the 7th of November at Spazio Maiocchi, with sculptures from Mutonia and photos from Daniela Facchinato’s archive.

The collection will be available at all Slam Jam doors worldwide, from the 7th of November onwards.

Press note for the show at Spazio Maiocchi, Milan.
